I feel like Scarlet O'Hara

In that "God help me" scene

Except I'm talking about never being in debt again

The system is played against us

If you've ever heard Dave Ramsey

Or other financial guru's speak

You know what I'm talking about

They are marketing credit cards to teenagers

Visa is sponsoring public school toys to get their name in

Right at the gate

You're meant to fail

To be a cog in the wheel of debt

Of enslavement

That's how society currently works

No question about it

Did you know that even the bible talks about the poor being slaves to the rich

And debt and borrowing/lending money

Mr. J. C. Penney himself refused to let people buy his store items on credit

Because he thought credit was evil

Because it truly is

It truly is

And yet.

That's the system we are set up to play in this nation

It's sickening

The more endebted you are

The more poor you become

It's a system

Where you can never catch up

And they'll take not only everything you own

But they'll take you. Your life.

To jail.

For debts.

In a system rigged to fail

The poor are truly defeated

The middle class defeat themselves

Trying to "keep up"

And the rich keep getting richer

Good old dependable greed

From individual to corporate to government

It's all got to end

And the change has to start from within

So here is my attempt to get out of it

Once and for all

I hope to God

Once and for all
