How can Japan have the most beautiful and extraordinary kindergarten program I've ever seen (Takaharu Tezuka); and still be so demanding with children academically that they have such high suicide rates from exams and placements? How can you be so modern and have some of the best technology around (30 second warning on earthquakes anyone?) yet have some of the worst air pollution around the world?
It's truly a bizarro world. Isn't it?
