I was reading reviews for movies I like. I recommend you never do that. Especially the negative ones; it makes you reconsider your taste and if you have any. Lol
I like that Kevin Costner Disney movie McFarland USA. And of all the things I loved about the movie by far the most poignant things for me was that they all came back to McFarland. They went out to the world to study and "become someone" and then they all came back. Maybe that was a little dramatized too. Who knows. But that to me stuck out as the best part of a movie I liked a lot of parts too. McFarland never left and neither did the kids. They came back to their city, their people, their heritage and made it work for them however they could.
That's the way it should be. If you have to leave your "country" let it be for the greater good and then return as soon as you can to help make it a better place. That's how the world should work. In an ideal situation. I guess everyone has their reasons for staying where ever they end up in life. But one of the truest joys one will ever have is family, deep and true friendships, pure love and acceptance for oneself, for ones history, for ones native land.
Just a crazy thought. Maybe too simplistic for most people. I don't know.
But how anyone can get from "Dances with Wolves" being the plot to "Avatar" just blows my mind. Someone has to explain that one to me in non-political terms. I'm just saying.
