I hate New Age people

Ok. No. I don't hate anyone really

But I do not agree with the going talk I've come across

That the devil and evil do not exist

Because when you ask them

They will admit to having experiences with it

But they claim it isn't real

Or worse

That we must turn our back to it

I don't like to turn my back on anyone 

or anything

If I can help it

I just don't

That to me doesn't not seem to be the way

I realize now more than ever

That evil comes

To block my attempts

To be happy with life

To be at peace with it

To live a life at ease (not necessarily of ease)

And I think awareness

And acceptance

Doesn't lead to indulgence 

Or susceptibility

It simply leads to awareness 

It's like being aware someone wants to kill you; being aware of it doesn't mean that you will let them kill you. I mean sure. It may be inevitable but it's not a forgone conclusion that you being aware had any negative bearing on the outcome.
In fact usually it is quite the opposite.
Come now. Truly.
It's really just awareness and without it some of us don't stand a chance. 

That's why we must be

Eyes wide open

Heart fully exposed

Soul raw with the desire for truth

for a bit of humanity; for everyone

But most especially for ourselves 

First and

Then for all others

Because there is no way to have true humanity for someone else

Without opening up your heart to them

As you have opened your heart

Up to yourself first
