note to millienials

You've got it so hard

Be a model citizen
while we drain your bank accounts with ginormous loans on degrees
that we can no longer guarantee give you any jobs
let alone good ones
while you pay for cars
to support the massive car driven infrastructure we created
but please note;
the jobs we are offering are only meant
for you to work yourself into the ground
"for our benefit of course" (says corporate america)
and you'll have to fight each other tooth and nail to even get it
and did we mention we want to contract you out without any benefits for it
and you can't complain about it
while we encourage you
to go out and drink your troubles away
or get yourself addicted to the newest drugs (pharmaceutical or otherwise)
come on
tow the line
people are counting on you
those Baby Boomers need their social security accounts stocked
but I'm sorry that the Gen-X'rs don't really want to give up any of their power yet
(so maybe you could learn from them and from their mistakes as well, if need be)
and those Generation Z's really need you to lead by example, so they can see
how we bend your will
and they understand
they too must like it
or at least accept it
unquestioningly
as you begrudgingly are want to do
this is all expected of you
so fucking get off your lazy asses
and give up your entire lives and happiness
to carry on your backs the illusion of the american dream

But.....

it doesn't have to be this way.
You could be the heart and soul
of a new paradigm
maybe you don't buy into it anymore
don't spend your money on the propaganda
spend it supporting each other
you know that friend that makes bracelets
go buy one
you know that other one
that knows all about computers
give em a six pack of craft beer and a $20 (or find out what they want/need)
to trouble shoot your PC (laptop, phone, or what have you)
you know that person
that refuses or simply can't buy a car
give um a ride
support each other
get each other through this mess
and start a new shift
away from supporting
the greed
that got us all here in the first place
